Today's the first day of classes. Feels a little strange that they start on a Friday. Only some of the exchange students have classes that are on Friday so most of them won't be going today. It's hard to believe that it's been nearly 2 weeks since I arrived. With all of the orientation and getting accustomed to the new surroundings it all seemed to fly by.

Had my first trip to Akihabara today. I'm so happy that it's just 3 stops away and about 10 minutes of walking away from the I-House. My goal was to get to a store called "Super Potato" which specializes in selling older video games and related materials. After receiving multiple flyers for maid cafes on the way there I found that the store was actually located on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors of the building that google maps brought me to. Even though I knew it was a common thing, it was still amazing to see first hand how on top of stores being compacted together on a ground level, they're also stacked on top of those same ground level stores. While seeing the large selection of super nintendo games brought back a lot of memories, my favorite area was the 5th floor which has a small arcade with old arcade games and a little area selling snacks. Will definitely be coming back here soon.
Just got to the I-House dorms and went over a little paperwork and overview of the rules. I'm spacing on the RA's name but, one of the RA's showed me to where my room would be and we took the elevator up to the third floor... I'm not sure how often elevators will be like this but... all I could think about when riding up were the scenes in the Japanese horror movies when the person isn't paying attention to the windows and then there's a creepy ghost child staring in on each floor as the elevator goes up/down. I'll probably be using the stairs unless I'm carrying something heavy.
Just arrived in Japan and almost missed the train. One of the train employees held the door for me though. so excited to finally be in Japan.
Just boarded the plane here at SFO and it will be headed to LAX, then from there straight to Japan. A few months ago when I was getting everything ready to leave it didn't seem real. In the past week the excitement and nervousness has hit me all at once. Can't wait to take my first step into Japan. I'll update again when I get to Japan.
