University you are going: Toyo University
When: Fall 2018 1. List things you want to do in Japan Short term list/goals: Go to a music concert, improve my Japanese language skills and knowledge of Japanese culture, visit various historical sites around Japan, try various Japanese foods, visit Akihabara, buy all the different flavors of Kit-Kat candy, visit Tokyo Tower, meet a lot of people, visit an arcade. Long term list/goals: Improve my Japanese language skills and knowledge of Japanese culture, make friends and network contacts, learn about the Japanese educational system, learn how to cook Japanese dishes 2. List what you need to do now to prepare to achieve the list you wrote above. To meet short term goals: Budget and save money, research what musical groups are touring in Japan, find the best days/times to visit historical sites, re-enforce my knowledge of Japanese language so learning new things is easier, search for restaurants that would be good to visit, check what arcades are near the university. To meet long term goals: Research which classes would be good/interesting to fill academic needs, lose weight and boost my self confidence to make it easier to talk with my classmates, check if there's opportunities to visit elementary/middle/high schools to learn about the education system, what types of Japanese food would I most like to learn about I'm here in JAPN 420 and we've just created our Blog pages on Weebly to keep our journals while we're abroad.
